Spotlight Edition: Natasha Mays "Next Up"

Introduction:
I first got familiar with Ms. Natasha Mays after previewing her amazing photos shot by Visual Cocktail photography. Images is featured in the latest issue of CRED Magazine. But Natasha Mays has been around for alittle while now; not only have she been modeling and shot with some amazing photographers in the game, but she also caught the acting bug aswell. Read on and got familiar with Natasha below…

Interview:

Hennywiz – First off, where are you originally from and what’s your ethnic background?

Natasha Mays – Originally from Worcester, MA and I am Black/Puerto Rican

Hennywiz – What are your measurements for the readers that might not know?

Natasha Mays – 34-26-38 5’2

Hennywiz – What or who inspired you to explore career into the modeling industry?

Natasha Mays – Something I always wanted to do after school: BA in Psychology & MBA in marketing…can’t rely on the looks forever!

Hennywiz – Give a rundown of some the publications you’ve been featured in?

Natasha Mays – Unfortunately a lot of submissions, but only one publication..CRED Mag! <-Thank you! I was just recently placed on a Book cover: Life, Love & Loneliness by Essence Bestselling author Crystal Lacey Winslow

Hennywiz – You’ve taken some hot photos; who are some the other photographer you’ve work with?

Natasha Mays – Visual Cocktails did the spread for Cred Mag, but I’ve also worked with: Derek Blanks, Anthony Thomas (Eyecandy Models), Corey Resse, Leo Marshall and I think that’s about it…

Hennywiz – With all the shoots you’ve done so far, which ones have been your most memorable?

Natasha Mays – Gotta say my 1st eyecandy shoot with Anthony…very professional, but also knowledgeable about how to position and frame your body…if you’re not use to “trying” to look sexy and positioning yourself in front of the camera it can be very uncomfortable..after that shoot..I was like “hey I’m kinda sexy” lol…I actually liked all the photographers I’ve worked with but gotta say my first “sexy” shoot was a great experience and I will always remember it.

Hennywiz – A question I tend to ask models/vixens is, in this forever evolving business, new faces emerge by the minute. What separates “Natasha Mays” from your peers?

Natasha Mays – I think I’m hungry but not “thirsty” so I will work hard but I’m not willing to take or do just anything…I’m not a Halle Berry but I’m also not an ugly duckling…so I use what natural looks I have and work with them…that if you look at my portfolio..Every picture I look different…so I think my range of looks and style will help me stand apart.

Hennywiz – Overall, what has been your opinion of the modeling industry?

Natasha Mays – It is a cut throat as they say, a lot of times no matter how “cute you are” it’s who you know and whose face you are in front of…I can’t say I’ve ever been approach to do a “favor” in exchange for anything..Which I wouldn’t do anyways…but I’ve heard stories and I know that type of thing still goes on…still amazes me…that and you have a lot of “acquaintances” in the business but very little “friends” don’t be fooled!

Hennywiz – What are some of your long term goals as you continue to progress in your career?

Natasha Mays – Take at as I go..I had a wonderful job and was laid off but financially stable enough where I wasn’t stressing about the money…I know that wouldn’t of happened if I hadn’t done the school thing first…so long term goal is stretch myself and see if the modeling (more so acting) has a place for me

Hennywiz – What has been some of the highlights of your career?

Natasha Mays – Starring on the 2nd season of BET’s Helldate..It was fun to realize that improv and acting is not as easy as it looked and I had the chance to watch a lot of my friends who were pro’s at it do it..but had a boat load of fun! I then got my first speaking role on the short lived sitcom BET had called “Somebodies” where I got to play a ditsy college girl for a halloween episode. And finally I think getting my first lead video..it didn’t get a lot of air play but it was a very good quality video and I liked it..It was Playaz Circle feat Bobby Valentino directed by Clifton Bell and the name of the song was called “I can’t remember”.

Hennywiz – What other interest do you have besides modeling?

Natasha Mays – Acting is definitely where I’d like to be, but general interest include basketball (Don’t be fooled by the height..I have a mean crossover and I’ve played many years!) lol, shooting pool my mom bought me my own pool stick for my birthday last year..because I started getting so good, and watching movies..I’m a movie buff!

Hennywiz – I’ve read that you’re an actress, what’s some of the projects people might’ve seen you in??

Natasha Mays – Think I answered that in the Highlights part but just to re-cap: Helldate Season 2, Somebodies, and background work on Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns & House of Payne, Triple C’s video “Every day”…

Hennywiz – What would be a dream role for you?

Natasha Mays – I’d like to do a drama-comedy sitcom…

Hennywiz – Let’s get deep now… is there someone special in your life?

Natasha Mays – No one special in my life now! ;-(

Hennywiz – What qualities do you look for when choosing a significant other?

Natasha Mays – Someone whom I’m attracted to..don’t really have a specific “type” all my ex’s look different, but someone who’s affectionate I loved to be smoothered, someone who likes to be a little kid everyone once in awhile like go to an amusement park and let loose, but someone whom I can still hold a good conversation with, someone who can look just as good in a wife beater and jeans as he does in a suit and tie…and someone who makes me laugh..Think that some’s it up besides the obvious of :respect, honesty, & integrity…

Hennywiz – What advice do you have for someone that would like to approach you in public?

Natasha Mays – Be RESPECTFUL! Uhh…I’m never too good to speak and I will never brush anyone off even if at first glance I know right away I’m not attracted to you- that’s rude..it doesn’t cost me anything to acknowledge you and appreciate the fact that you took time to speak to me..but the most irritating thing to me is the disrespectful–I’m trying to F**** you conversation that brothers walk up and try to throw and you don’t even know me?! -And this doesn’t happen just in the clubs…cause the first thing someone says is Well what were you wearing?!, smh..this happens at the grocery store (sweat pants and ponytail) and parking lots..Just be yourself point blank…

Hennywiz – What turns you on the most?

Natasha Mays – Someone who’s confident and still has that “southern” charm..not necessarily from the south, but what is usually considered “southern” charm..a man that can cook…WOW..I’m already half way in love & I don’t even know your name! LOL! Someone who stills opens the doors and does it effortlessly like a Denzel o’l school swag but smooth with it

Hennywiz – What is an ultimate turn off for you?

Natasha Mays – Someone who is arrogant and too into himself he doesn’t have the time to ask or see how I’m doing..I’m caring my nature so I’m gonna try to “mother” or console you regardless but someone who only receives and doesn’t feel the need to give

Hennywiz – How would you describe your fashion style?

Natasha Mays – Eclectic..I go through phases..sometimes I’m “plain jane” very little make-up, jeans and simple T and other times I wanna be Herve Ledger dressed up and glamed up..just depends on my mood I guess..but I am definitely not a “trendsetter dresser” lol..more of a “go with my mood” type.

Hennywiz – What genre of music are you into?

Natasha Mays – LOVE R&B and Hip Hop..very little straight up Rap but R&B is the way to my heart..it can be as smooth and sensual as it wants to be or as raunchy and straight forward as it get’s…I just like the story telling a good voice. If I could sing I would definitely try to put everything I owned on the line to be an artist!

Hennywiz – What type of mood music do you like during a photoshoot?

Natasha Mays – I like hip hop..something that makes me feel hype!

Hennywiz – What is one thing about yourself that tends to shock people once they get to know you personally?

Natasha Mays – I’m goofy…and I know it! I have the college degrees, I know how to “play the part” -which a lot of people mistake as stuck up or up tight…And since I don’t DRINK or SMOKE- I’m labeled automatically as “square” or a “good girl” but I like to let loose and have fun and for me I don’t need to be intoxicated to ACT a FOOL! LOL

Hennywiz – What is your guilty pleasure?

Natasha Mays – CHOCOLATE>>>>I love 3 Nestle Tollhouse Chocolate chip cookies EVERY Night! My drug of choice!

Hennywiz – Name some things you couldn’t live without?

Natasha Mays – My apple, my shower- I love a hot shower, My COOKIES, My Music…and my FAMILY

Hennywiz – What can we expect from you in the near future?

Natasha Mays – I hate when people say the skies the limit..because for me there are no such things! I have no limits so the door/window is WIDE open..I’m small enough to fit through both!
