Born and raised in the city of Detroit, Ms.Cris’ love affair with visual and performing arts sparked at an early age.
“I remember as young as 5-years-old taking ballet, tap, and jazz dance classes throughout the week, and then later in my elementary-school-years taking intro to art courses at Center for Creative Studies.”
In 2006, Ms.Cris moved to North Carolina to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Public Relations at North Carolina A&T State University. It wasn’t until after moving from Michigan that she started getting curious about modeling. In 2007, she graced the pages of Cool C’s Below Zero Hair Magazine.
After building a bit of an online buzz with her new venture into modeling, Cris felt this was an ample opportunity to really get her feet wet in music. She always had an aspiration to record and perform as a solo rap artist, after being part of a group back in Detroit while she was in high school.
Through her networking skills she was able to link with some of the best in the business based in North Carolina and elsewhere. From that point, she was requested to feature on Rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother’s solo mixtape The Purple Tape (Jan 2010) and album Dirty Pretty Things (Nov 2011).
With a style that is very eclectic, the 23-year-old budding star is influenced by an extensive list of artists and genres of music, allowing her sound to be very colorful. Cris is sure to bring the public a sweet new taste of what the entertainment industry is missing with her high energy and bright approach to fashion and music.
When asked what she would like to accomplish most as an artist, she confidently stated, “I hope to encourage others. I want people to remember to live life. Enjoy the good times and the bad. We all have a past but let’s look toward the future. Through my paintings and my music I hope to give people a view of my thoughts. Art is a language and if one or more person can relate and interpret what I’m saying, I’m happy.”
Ms.Cris is currently working on a music project entitled Everybody Hates Cris.
