Here we go again. And again and again. Despite the fact that the RedSox are again down 4 of their starting line up with Ellsburry going back to the DL with apparently more broken ribs. As I’ve said before. Stick a fork in it cuz he’s done for the season. As written before, Youkilis is also down for the season and now Cammeron is also out for the season . Just breaking news from Thursday’s game, it seems that Pedroia may be back on the shelf due to soreness of his recently healed foot. Let’s hope for the best.
So NOW comes, HOW the hell does this team do it? They’re still only 5.5 games behind the wild card with a TON of injuries. You have got to tip your hat to this team despite the team you follow (yes even you Yankee fans) they have survived a massive rush of injuries to key players. Think of it. Catcher – Martinez was out on the DL, First – Youk was out and is out for the season, Second – Pedroia, may be back on the DL, SS – Scutero only one that hasn’t been on the DL along with 3B – Beltre who has been the Bargain of the Off season with his HOT BAT and Cheap labor. OF-Drew, Cameron and Ellsburry, all have spent time on the DL and 2 of 3 will be gone for the season. How do they do it? “the old fashion way” they have collected and developed such a fantastic farm system that they’ve been able to uphold their chances of making the playoffs. I think that today’s “sell the talent to win today” is a bad thing for Baseball or any sport. Think of it, you’ll go to the Hall of Fame of the sport of your choice and you’ll see your favorite player wearing a uniform that was not the team you followed. Honestly, do you think Clemens will wear a Yankee hat or a RedSox hat in the Hall?
