Interview:
Hennywiz: What’s happening, Malea Jae?
Malea Jae: Nothing much I just got back from the beach for Fourth of July weekend!
Hennywiz: First off, Welcome to the Wiz’s Daily dose.
Malea Jae: Thank you I appreciate it!
Hennywiz: Where are you originally from and what’s your ethnic background for starters?
Malea Jae: I am originally from Lancaster, PA and I am black.
Hennywiz: What are your measurements?
Malea Jae: 32-25-36
Hennywiz: What or who inspired you to begin a modeling career?
Malea Jae: I’m not sure because for as long as I can remember I have wanted to become a model. I remember looking at girls in magazines when I was younger and I always wanted that to be me.
Hennywiz: You’ve taken some really nice photos, is there a particular photographer you consistently work with?
Malea Jae: No, not at all have I worked with different photographers, my latest shoot was with Frank Antonio in NYC.
Hennywiz: How long have you been modeling?
Malea Jae: I have been modeling for about a year now.
Hennywiz: In this forever evolving business, new faces emerge by the minute. What separates “Malea Jae” from your peers?
Malea Jae: Like I said earlier modeling has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. When I was younger my mom tried to get me working with different modeling agencies so that I could pursue my dream. Modeling means so much to me and it is something that I have wanted for so long. I didn’t just wake up one day and say I want to be a model, I have wanted this for so long, and in saying that I am willing to work hard and go above and beyond to make my dream become a reality.
Hennywiz: With all the shoots you’ve done so far, which ones have been your most memorable?
Malea Jae: My most memorable shoot was when I was working with Chase in Philly; he was trying to help me work on my facial expressions. I will never forget he just told me to go crazy and do every emotion I could think of. It was a little embarrassing because my friend Sade was there with me watching. But during every photo shoot that I have had since then I always remember the things that he told me.
Hennywiz: Have been featured in any publications as of yet?
Malea Jae: No not yet
Hennywiz: Has being in the entertainment business affected your personal life?
Malea Jae: Yes, people such as family and friends are very quick to judge. I recently graduated from Delaware State University with my BSN, so I am currently looking for work as a RN. I find it difficult to be me, as once again people are quick to judge, just the other day I had to remove some photos off of my facebook hoping that when recruiters look me up they don’t prejudge me because of my modeling career. It is just frustrating because modeling is what I love and it is a part of me and I hate to have to hide it in fears of what people may think.
Hennywiz: Overall, what has been your opinion of the modeling industry?
Malea Jae: The modeling industry is very competitive. There are some things that I will not do or wear where as the next girl will be quick to do. I have to stick to my standards, so I realize that I have to be that much better since there are some things that I will not do.
Hennywiz: Have you done any runway fashion shows?
Malea Jae: Yes I did only one last summer it was the youngest in charge and chosen twice summer fashion show in Philadelphia, PA. It was so much fun I had a blast however I do not focus on fashion shows because I am so short and usually runway they want you to be at least 5 ft. 6 in. without heels.
Hennywiz: What are some of your long term goals as you continue to progress in your career?
Malea Jae: My long term goals are to get into acting, after I take some acting classes.
Hennywiz: What has been some of the highlights of your career?
Malea Jae: The highlights of my career are my feature on bossup bunnies and stilettotalk magazine.
Hennywiz: What other interest do you have besides modeling?
Malea Jae: Obviously the medical field since I graduated from nursing school, I love to take care of people. I am also interested in acting, and I know this is kind of random but I always wanted to Jet Ski, I have to do that at some point in my life lol.
Hennywiz: What are some of your hobbies?
Malea Jae: I love hanging out with friends, going to the beach and anybody that knows me knows that I love partying it is my middle name lol.
Hennywiz: Is acting in your plans for the future?
Malea Jae: Yes I would love to act.
Hennywiz: What would be a dream role for you?
Malea Jae: I want to be in a scene where I am like a crazy ex girlfriend and get to destroy all of my ex boyfriends things or set it on fire. I want to be mean, crazy and destructive since that is for the most part out of my character so I just wanna get crazy on TV lol.
Hennywiz: I’m about to get in your business now, lol!! Do you have a significant other? If so, how does he or she feel about you modeling?
Malea Jae: No I am currently flying solo, however there is someone special and he is an aspiring rapper so we are good support for each other because he knows just as I do that it takes a lot of hard work and it’s a lot of competition in the industry.
Hennywiz: What qualities do you look for when choosing a significant other?
Malea Jae: I look for someone that I can trust, I have to be attracted to them, and they have to make me laugh, I love comedians lol
Hennywiz: I want to assume your preference is men or women too?
Malea Jae: Just men!
Hennywiz: What advice do you have for someone that would like to approach you in public? Malea Jae: I absolutely love compliments, basically if you approach me nicely I will speak to you doesn’t necessarily mean I will give you my number but we can talk for a few seconds. I’m not a mean person if you approach me in a respectful way I will speak to you.
Hennywiz: What are some of the worst pick up lines you ever been hit with?
Malea Jae: Lame: “How could you show up late like that?”
Me: “To what?”
Lame: “Our wedding, you my bride and you late”
***Do I even have to say anything else, just a lame lol
Hennywiz: What turns you on the most?
Malea Jae: A guy that makes me laugh and that smells good.
Hennywiz: What is an ultimate turn off for you?
Malea Jae: Bad breath and if he is 25 living with his mother with 4 baby moms lol
Hennywiz: What’s the most expensive gift you have bought a significant other?
Malea Jae: It wasn’t necessarily a gift, but I gave an ex boyfriend 600 dollars to help him get on his feet, I will never do that again!
Hennywiz: There are some freaky people out there that will want to know, how do you rate yourself in the bedroom?
Malea Jae: No comment lol
Hennywiz: What is your ultimate sexual fantasy?
Malea Jae: No comment I want my mom to read this lol
Hennywiz: What part of your body are you most complimented on and what is your favorite asset(s) on you?
Malea Jae: I don’t think that I am complimented on a particular body part, but people usually just tell me that I am beautiful. My favorite assets on me are my eyes, my stomach and my feet!
Hennywiz: Give a description of a normal evening at home with you.
Malea Jae: A normal evening with me is usually something like trying to find somewhere to eat, because it’s not often that I get in the mood to cook, it’s very rare actually. Then after dinner I will watch a movie with a icee in my hand.
Hennywiz: Do you have any tattoos? If so where?
Malea Jae: Yes I do I have 4, my name on my waist, a butterfly on my back, the word Love on my chest and stars going down my side.
Hennywiz: Do you have a special hidden talent? If so, can you reveal it?
Malea Jae: No not that I know of.
Hennywiz: How would you describe your fashion style?
Malea Jae: I love getting dressed up with heels. If I am chilling I like flip-flops in the summer and ugg boots in the winter. I like to try different things sometimes, it just depends on my mood, but all my clothes for the most part are very bright and colorful.
Hennywiz: What genre of music are you into?
Malea Jae: I like Hip Hop, Rap and R&B
Hennywiz: Drink of choice that gets you going?
Malea Jae: My favorite drink is a jolly rancher or a Malibu bay breeze but if I want to get going……. Cranberry and vodka of course!
Hennywiz: What type of mood music do you like during a photoshoot?
Malea Jae: I like to listen to Rap and Hip Hop during photo shoots. Gucci’s song “photoshoot” always gets me going!
Hennywiz: What is one thing about yourself that tends to shock people once they get to know you personally?
Malea Jae: It would be that under the right condition I can just lose it. A lot of people talk about how sweet I am and how I always call everybody honey lol, so when they do see me rowdy and loud it’s kind of like I never seen that coming lol
Hennywiz: What is your guilty pleasure?
Malea Jae: My guilty pleasure is honey buns with icing on top.
Hennywiz: Name some things you couldn’t live without?
Malea Jae: A toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, mascara, my glasses or contacts (Im blind as a bat lol), ugg boots, water, honey buns and a bonnet for my hair lol.
Hennywiz: What can we expect from you in the near future?
Malea Jae: To be featured in a few major publications.
Hennywiz: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Malea Jae: In the next five years I see myself working on my acting career. Hopefully I will be a successful model and will be able to juggle modeling, acting and being a RN. Within the next five years I will have been in major publications and maybe have a few acting roles.
Hennywiz: What advice do you have for inspiring models out there trying to break into the industry?
Malea Jae: Just to stay strong and do not let anyone tear you from your dreams. Work hard and do not give up, modeling is very competitive but at the end of the day you have to be true to yourself. Learn from everything you do, keep pushing forward and if you fall always get back up, even the best have fell but had the courage to get up again.
Hennywiz: I really appreciate you taking the time to grant me this interview. Anything you want to say to your fans out there?
Malea Jae: Thank you for all the support. Some people do not understand why I work so hard and go out of my way for my modeling career but for the people that understand and continue to support me thank you, I love you and I will not let you down. Shout out to my family (Mom, Dad, Isiah and Monique). My nan who is looking down on me I will continue to make you proud.
